KATHMANDU, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) -- A tiger killed an elderly man in Nepal's Bara district on Sunday morning, taking the death toll from tiger attacks in the area to four in the past two months, local police said.
The 60-year-old man was collecting mushrooms at a forest when he was attacked, and his body was found later by locals, said Bijay Raj Pandit, information officer for district police.
"It is unclear whether a single tiger or multiple tigers caused the deaths," Pandit told Xinhua. "We're trying to locate and capture the cannibal tiger."
Conflicts between humans and wildlife are common in Nepal, which is home to 355 tigers, according to a 2022 census. ■
